A recipe for a good portrait does not require a fancy camera or expensive studio gadgets. All you need is a wall as your background with a good light that shines through and, “Tada” — instant portrait! The wall could be of any colour too. Just make sure you visualise your shot and set your settings right before asking your subject to pose.
Best example I can think of is the portrait of mother -daughter above (Nico and Baby Paola) above. While Mommy N was walking around trying to put Baby P to sleep for more cute baby pics, I found a blank white wall in one corner of their awesome home and told Mommy N to quickly pose. I snapped a couple and it came out exactly how I wanted it — crisp, white and bright.
Tip: Just make sure there is ample natural light shining through so your subjects will be evenly lit and you will get the good effect you want.
