Indulge me as I try to dig more into my a.M.o.T. diary of favourite posts I want to revive and share since I “killed” a.M.o.T’s URL last year.
Exactly a year ago, I published this post of my three kids together and happy. And because yesterday my eldest daughter arrived, I can’t wait to document moments like these again….. uneventful moments that feel special for no apparent reason other than their laughter and the aroma of buttered popcorn 🙂
(published 12 April 2013) Here in Bangkok summer officially ended yesterday when heavy rain poured over the metropolis. I was so thankful because after a month of extreme heat, the rain was a refreshing welcome. It was also a momentous day for me as a mother because my eldest daughter, Daniella, (who by turns 23 this month, OMG a wake up call : I am really old!) who lives and works in Manila, arrived to be with us for 2 weeks. Being away from your child, although an adult and lives her own life, is never easy. And even though we often see one another, almost every other month, living apart just sucks.
This afternoon, after lazying around alone in my room, trying to enjoy some Me Time , I decided to go down because I heard laughter and smelled freshly popped buttered popcorn. And look what I came down to — all my kids— three, complete and happy!
For now we are complete, well almost. As I joined them for some catch-ups and goofing around over popcorn, we await for the arrival of our team leader and rock star, the H, who has been traveling and working hard over the past months. I used to get annoyed that he would travel constantly, but now, I just pray for safety, health and well being. I realised that if its tough for me because I am left alone and often a single parent, then its definitely tougher for him.
Seriously, life of an expat wife + mother is really not all that wonderful as others think. More so the life of the working expat. It’s a tough situation we just have to get used to. But enough of that. For now, or in a few more hours, The Spunky’s drawing of our family portrait will be a reality. For two weeks, we will be a complete unit. I can’t wait! Let the fun & the chaos begin:-) #countingmyblessings
Happy Songkran to all my Thai friends and to the world, Happy Weekend!!!
