Martine De Luna (the genius behind Make It Blissful) and I have collaborated so many times in the past on blogging & branding matters that it was not so hard for me to agree on collaborating on a photography workshop. I actually just said “Yes, Ok” to do a workshop without knowing what the topics is. I was quite surprised when she said I have to do a workshop on Photo Styling when all the while I thought it was about Photography101 (basic photography), which I usually do. My thought bubble when she said Photo Styling was : Hmmm , really Styling? Now how will I teach that? The topic actually sounds simple and fun, but when it sunk in, I was apprehensive because style & styling are so personal. Honestly , I got spooked. The challenge to me was how can I teach style & styling to these bunch of stylish & independent women without actually dictating or imposing MY own personal taste. For days , I had to really think about it, prepare a proper lesson plan and module, plus draw the mission and vision for this workshop. I took the challenge to heart and hoped for the best.
Well, guess what…. The workshop was held last week, 22 March 2014, in Manila (yes, I flew home for this!), I am so happy to share that all my hard work in planning and practicing paid off!! Yes! All 17 of the attendees , and as I suspected all very independent and stylish women who own businesses, or are crafters and designers in their own right, learned and enjoyed! Here are random photos from the event:
Sharing your passion with others and inspiring them in the process is so fulfilling. That’s why I have made a promise to myself and to all these wonderful women who attended the workshop that I will be more active in blogging again. Hearing and reading words & phrases like : Thank you , I have learned so much. Oh yeah, you are right. Oh why didn’t I think of that.. etc etc.. drives me to share my knowledge and passion more. So, yes, fingers crossed, it’s hello to from here on!
I would like to thank first and foremost Martine (IG: @martinedeluna), who believes in me , supports and pushes me to share my work and passion. Thank yous are also in order to Commune (IG: @coummuneph) for the fabulous venue. They serve one of the best coffees in town, btw. To Paper Chic Studio (IG: @paperchicstudio) for sponsoring our props with cute paper products and straws. Last but not the least to Dolce Cakes & Pastries (IG: @dolcecakesandpastries) for those photogenic and lovely cupcakes our attendees had fun shooting and then eating.
