Coffee in Thailand , Bangkok particularly , has escalated almost three folds in the short span of time I have been here. Suddenly coffee shops have been sprouting left and right. You can even find two Starbucks in some sois (soi means street in Thai). When Dean & Deluca opened shop two years ago, it was a sign that the Thais were getting pretty serious with their kuppas. Well guess what else are the Thais serious about — interior + design. Take for example this neighborhood coffee shop I go to just 200 steps from my house — Carfé. The owner who is a coffee drinker & vintage + car lover married all his passions in this small space. Brilliant! Lucky me, I don’t need to drive far if I want a no-fus- inexpensive skinny Latté and (yikes) a slice of cake. And, yippee, they have free WiFi!
